Na een week heen en weer rennen, afspraken nakomen, deadlines halen, mama/huishoudster/taxichauffeur spelen ben ik altijd blij dat het zondag is.
Op zondag hoef ik niets. Op zondag mag ik uitslapen (tot het gekibbel van de kinderen me wakker maakt, wat meestal rond 9 uur is) en zelf kiezen wat ik wel of niet doe.
Een beetje lanterfanten, surfen op het net, hangen op de bank, spelletje doen met de kids en breien, haken of spinnen. Vandaag was het surfen op het net. En toen kwam ik hier terecht: Click it up a notch. Een blog met heel veel tutorials om je fotografie skills te verbeteren.
Een van de eerste dingen die ik kocht toen ik met de webwinkel begon en er een beetje geld binnenkwam was een digitale spiegel reflex camera (DSLR). Ik dacht toen (onterecht) dat ik dan veel mooiere product foto’s zou maken die ik zonder al te veel moeite zo in de shop zou kunnen plaatsen. Nu bijna 4 jaar later weet ik beter. Het is niet de apparatuur maar de fotograaf die ervoor zorgt dat er mooie plaatjes geschoten worden. Met vallen en opstaan leerde ik hoe ik met de vooraf ingestelde opties mooiere productfoto’s kon maken maar vaak moest ik dan na afloop toch nog met een fotobewerkingsprogramma aan de gang om schaduwen weg te werken.
Met behulp van de informatie die ik op deze site vond heb ik de camera heel dapper op handmatig gezet en ben wat plaatjes gaan schieten.
Wat me vooral opvalt is hoe natuurgetrouw de kleuren er nu uitzien! Echt ongelooflijk! Het enige wat ik nu nog heb gedaan met het fotobewerkingsprogramma is het formaat verkleinen en soms heb ik wat stukken weggesneden die ik niet in beeld wilde. Verder niets! Alleen de foto van dochterlief met kat is niet helemaal gefocust maar dat mag de pret niet drukken. Ik ben om!
Uiteindelijk is het dus toch nog een productief dagje geworden en heb ik weer heel wat geleerd 😉
En nu ga ik nog even heerlijk ontspannen met dit wolletje…

After a week of running around, keeping appointments, meeting deadlines, being mom/housekeeper/taxidriver I’m always happy for Sunday to arrive.
I don’t NEED to do stuff on Sundays. Sundays are for sleeping in – until my kids quarreling wakes me up around nine – and I get to choose what I want to do or not.
Hanging around, a little surfing on the web, playing games with the kids, knitting – crocheting or spinning. Today was a surfing on the net day. And then I stumbled onto this site: Click it up a notch. A blog with lots of tutorials to improve your photography skills.
One of the first things I bought when I started to make some money with my shop was a Digital Single-lens reflex camera (SLR). I honestly thought my pictures would come out so much better and it would save so much time updating my website. Now, after almost 4 years I know better. It’s NOT the equipment but the photographer who makes great pictures. I’m no where near being a good photographer but through trial and error I learned to take decent pictures with the automatic features on this camera. But I still had to load them in my editing software and adjust shadows and white-balance and such.
But with the help of this site I was brave enough to set my camera to manual and shoot some pictures.
First thing I noticed was how accurate the colors came out! Unbelievable! The only thing I needed to do in my editing software was to resize the file and crop out some distracting things in the background. Nothing else! I think they came out great – maybe the picture of my daughter with the cat is a little out of focus but I’m very happy with the results!
In the end it was a really productive and educational Sunday for me 😉
But now I’m going to relax and spin a little..
